Reservation Fees & Holds

How do I place a reservation fee on a puppy?

Reservation Fees are $350 regardless of the total price of a puppy.

Contact us by phone or email to place a reservation fee on a puppy!

We have a few different payment methods for reservation fees.

We will fill out the reservation fee form for you, so all you have to do is read over it, sign it and send it back to us with a payment of $350.

Please let us know if you have any questions about the Reservation Fee Contract.

Once the Reservation Fee Contract is signed no changes can be made to it.

You can find a copy of the Reservation Fee Contract on our Contracts, Policies & Pricing page!

***You must sign the Reservation Fee Contract (before we reserve a puppy for you) in order to reserve your puppy, otherwise we will not reserve the puppy for you and you will lose your reservation fee.***

We will allow 72 hours for your reservation fee to arrive (mail only).

***By signing the Reservation Fee Contract you agree to the Pet Contract, even if you have not signed it yet, but the Pet Contract must be signed before your puppy is released to you.***

Do I have to put a reservation fee down today?

No, but please note picks are done in the order that reservation fees are placed.

Do I have to place a reservation fee to reserve my puppy?

Yes! This ensures that you are serious about a puppy and not just "shopping around".

***Reservation fees only hold a puppy until 7 weeks of age, at this time you must make arrangements to pay the full amount agreed upon (if not paying cash) to continue the hold until pick up. Otherwise, the puppy will become available again.***

Please let me know if you change your mind and no longer want to go through with adopting a puppy. I will allow you 48 hours to respond. Remember reservation fees are non-refundable! If you do not respond within the 48 hours you will lose your reservation fee and the puppy will become available again.

I encourage you to only put a reservation fee down if you are serious about adding a puppy to your family, not if you are just "shopping" for a potential puppy.

Are reservation fees refundable or transferable?

***Reservation Fees are non-refundable for any reason!***

Reservation fees are only transferable to other available puppies at this time (or the next litter, if applicable).

***Reservation Fees can only be transferred one time!***

Transferred reservation fees will receive the 3rd pick of the next litter, unless the 1st or 2nd picks are still available.

***Transferred reservation fees are only valid for the next litter.***

We encourage you to only transfer a reservation fee to an available puppy at this time, as we have a limited number of litters a year.

Ex: If you place a reservation fee originally on a puppy and decided not to adopt that puppy, your reservation fee can only be transferred to a puppy that is available at this time or born in the next litter.

We do this only to keep the amount of forfeited reservation fees down & so we don't have a long waiting list like other breeders. Not allowing people to continuously transfer their reservation fees to the "next available litter" allows serious adopters to be able to obtain the puppy they want, without having to wait on a ridiculously long waiting list.

RedTree Ridge Aussies reserves the right to have the 1st pick of every litter!

This means RedTree Ridge Aussies will decide if we want to keep a puppy before any potential adopters get to choose their puppy.

1st, 2nd & 3rd picks refer to customer picks, as RedTree Ridge Aussies reserves the right to have 1st pick of every litter.

Can I put a reservation fee down before the puppy is born for a specific coat color or sex?

This will be determined on a case by case basis, depending on the due date of the dam. Puppy picks are done in the order that reservation fees are received.

Only a limited number of reservation fees will be accepted before a litter is born due to unknown factors such as litter size, colors, sex, etc.

If putting a reservation fee down for coat color, you must specify at least two coat colors you prefer/are willing to adopt. If putting a reservation fee down for sex, are you willing to adopt the opposite sex (what if you want a male, but there are only females)?

Please keep in mind that the more flexible you are about size, sex, color, etc., the more likely you are to find a suitable puppy. The more specific you are about aesthetic requirements, the longer you should expect it to take to find a puppy to 'match' your requirements.

Breeding is a complex endeavor, and our first priorities will always be health and temperament, not color or other aesthetic traits.

***We are not the breeder for you if you want to "order" a "customized" puppy that is within a very restricted criteria list.***

If you want a specific coat type, color, and gender, we are not the right breeder for you. We specifically accept applications from families whose primary interest is a well-bred and well-raised puppy. That said, we will, of course, do our best to match you with the puppy you find most visually appealing. However, we do not guarantee availability of superficial traits such as coat or eye color and we do NOT accept applications from families with highly specific aesthetic criteria.

Picks of unborn litter(s) will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are willing to put a reservation fee down before the puppies are born, you will pick your puppy in the order that the reservation fees were received.

What if I inquire about a puppy and my reservation fee is on the way, but another person's reservation fee for the same puppy arrives first?

Puppies are sold on a first-come-first-serve basis.

This will likely not happen because we don't place any puppy with any first person to come along. If we have been dealing with you and you tell us the reservation fee is on the way, we will give you three (3) business days for the signed Reservation Fee Contract and payment to arrive.

Anyone else interested will have to wait until the reservation fee is made or your hold time runs out. No one else will be allowed to send a reservation fee for your puppy.

Remember puppy picks are done after 6 weeks old so when you inquire we will let you know what pick number you would be. We help families pick puppies by only offering puppies that will best fit their family and lifestyle.

For example, if we are working with Tracy on getting a holding fee to adopt "Fluffy" and Mary rushes a reservation fee to us in attempt to get "Fluffy" first. We will honor our agreements with Tracy. When Tracy's reservation fee arrives, Mary will be notified that "Fluffy" has been reserved and given a list of other available puppies.

Remember reservation fees are non-refundable!

What if I'm the first person to inquire about a puppy but I don't place a reservation fee on that puppy and someone else inquires about the same puppy? Who will be able to place a reservation  fee on the puppy?

This is probably going to happen a few times, but don't worry.

Puppy picks are done in order of received reservation fees. However, we do not allow anyone to place a reservation fee for our puppies. We have a puppy application and contact people in order of received puppy applications. Our puppy application allows us to get to know potential families and be able to help them pick the best pup for them.

Puppies are placed based on temperament/personality, not solely on color/sex. We will place the puppy with whichever family is in the best interest of the puppy. Picks are done after 6 weeks of age so if you inquire about a specific puppy before then you will be notified of what pick number you would be. In order to reserve your pick spot you will need to place a reservation fee.

If you inquire about a puppy after picks have been made we will let you know which pups are available. You will still be required to place a reservation fee to reserve a specific pup or your pick spot.

When a second person inquires about the same puppy ("Fluffy"), the first inquiry person will be notified with a specific time that they must respond by with their decision on whether or not they want to reserve the puppy. I will also let the other person(s) know when they inquire about "Fluffy" that someone else has already inquired about "Fluffy" first and will have to wait for you (the 1st inquiry person) to make a decision.

If the first inquiry person does not respond after being notified, then I will move on to the next person who inquired. If multiple people inquire about "Fluffy" the decision to place a reservation fee will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. I will continue to go down the inquiry list until someone puts a reservation fee on the puppy.

The reason I let everyone know when someone else inquires about the same puppy is so no one is surprised when I tell them that the puppy now has a reservation fee placed on them. I know you may feel pressured to make a hasty decision about purchasing a puppy but this is why we have everyone fill out a puppy application so you have time to decide if you are ready for a new puppy.

This has happened to me multiple times. I inquired about the same puppy someone else already inquired about and then when I decide I am ready to put a reservation fee down (which is usually in the same day or next day) they say the puppy is no longer available. I'm left wondering what happened, why didn't they tell me someone else had already inquired about the puppy or what would of happened if I decided to place a reservation fee sooner.
